Search Bragg Creek is named after Albert Warren Bragg from Collingwood, Nova Scotia and his 14-year-old brother John Thomas who homesteaded in the area in 1894. The community was established between a forestry reserve, the Sarcee Indian reserve and a Provincial Park. Ranching was the original primary economic generator in Bragg Creek. The economy diversified with the emergence of recreation in the 1920s.

Bragg Creek was featured in the feature films Storm (1987) and Killer Image (1992) both directed by David Winning, and also Betrayed (1988) directed by Costa-Gavras. During the 1990s, CBC aired the television program North of 60, which was mainly filmed in Bragg Creek. The town was the filming location for the new BBC/Discovery Channel series Dinosapien (2007) and the 2009 CBC television series Wild Roses, as well as portions of the movie FUBAR.

With a land area of 3.98 km2 (1.54 sq mi), it had a population density of 148.0/km2 (383.3/sq mi) in 2016.[1] Rocky View County's 2013 municipal census counted a population of 454 in Bragg Creek, the same population recorded in its 2006 municipal census. As a designated place in the 2011 Census, Bragg Creek had a population of 595 living in 235 of its 286 total dwellings, a 8.2% change from its 2006 population of 550. With a land area of 4.06 km2 (1.57 sq mi), it had a population density of 146.55/km2 (379.6/sq mi) in 2011.

In recent years the Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association has developed over 140 km of biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and horseback riding trails. Many summer camps, such as OLQP, Easter Seals Camp Horizon and Kamp Kiwanis are also near Bragg Creek. The powderface42, a marathon and half-marathon takes place in the vicinity every year. This event is called a mountain marathon, but is more like a classical marathon running race rather than the multi-day mountain marathon events in the UK. The race does not have a navigational element to it; participants run on a predefined and marked course with water stations along it.

    Calgary Transit operates 155 bus routes using 1,155 vehicles. All buses are low floor and wheelchair accessible.[38] The light rail vehicle (LRV) fleet includes the system's original Siemens–Duewag U2 cars, 110 Siemens SD-160s, and 63 Siemens S200s. Calgary Transit's 72 original style SD160s were delivered in three orders between 2000 and 2007 and have all since been retrofitted with Air Conditioning and the newer red and white livery. In June 2010, 38 new restyled Siemens SD160s, featuring factory equipped AC and various cosmetic and technical changes over the previous series, began to arrive. In January 2016, the first of 63 Siemens S200 cars began arriving which entered service in July 2016. The CTrain system along with several mainline bus routes provide the backbone of the system while many feeder bus routes and express services act to complement this backbone service. Service frequency on the CTrain and busier bus routes is typically from 5–30 minutes with operating hours of about 5 am – 2 am. Most feeder bus routes run at 15–45 minute intervals with similar operating hours on most routes and reduced on others. In addition there are many rush hour only services, some are feeder routes and some are express routes, these usually run 10–30 minutes apart.

    CTrain With 56 kilometres of track and 44 stations on two lines, the CTrain can help connect you to where you want to go. The Red Line, runs from Crowfoot in the northwest to Somerset-Bridlewood in the south, and the Blue Line, starts at Saddletowne in the northeast and travels to 69 Street in the west. The CTrain travels downtown along 7 Avenue between City Hall and West/Kerby Stations. This stretch of the CTrain system is our free fare zone. This means that you can hop on for free when traveling along 7 Avenue. Make sure you purchase your fare if you’re traveling outside of downtown.
